A RAOK A DAY, IN THE MONTH OF MAY: Day 30

Today was a rough one for me.

I left the house in a great mood....

And... well, it just wasnt the best day.

So my RAOK today... was for myself.

I bought myself flowers.

I dropped off some clothes as a donation to The Rescue Mission in Tustin today.

I also had a few bags of toiletries that I had planned on donating elsewhere, but gave to the Rescue Mission as well, while I was there.

I also donated $1 for "Stars for Heroes".

A RAOK A DAY, IN THE MONTH OF MAY: Day 28

Today was one of those crazy days where as soon as I have a second to sit down, something else happens.

On my way home tonight I realized I hadnt done a RAOK yet.

I stopped at the pet store... they had some toys on clearance, so I spent a whopping $3 and asked the cashier to donate them to the pets waiting to be adopted in the back.  They were all sleeping when I went to look at them... but it still made me sad.  So hopefully some toys will cheer them up!

Of course, I got my boy a new toy too...

A RAOK A DAY, IN THE MONTH OF MAY: Day 27

I have always wanted to do a RAOK for a police department... You all know by now, most likely, my love for policemen, LOL

I have been told though, they (understandably) dont take well to things like baskets being delivered like I have done for the fire department.  And honestly, I get it.

I have bought lunch for an officer in line behind me before... but yesterday I realized, hey, I can give them a Starbucks gift card with a thank you.  And that is what I did.

In Rancho Santa Margarita, there is a small subdivision of Orange County Sheriffs Department, by City Hall.  What I didnt realize, was they close at 5pm.  (The office, not the deputies on duty)

I got there at almost 5:30, and crossed my fingers there would be a deputy outside.  And... there was.  (Its my lucky week for that, since it happened at the fire station, too!)

So I gave him this, and said, "Since I think the office is closed, I would like to just give you this and to say thank you..." and he said I just missed it by 2 minutes... looked at me funny, and then read it and said, "Oh... thank you ma'am" and I said, "Thank You" and I went on my way.

A RAOK A DAY, IN THE MONTH OF MAY: Day 25

Today was an AWESOME day FULL of RAOKs.

 First, at the Fullerton Arboretum, I left three bottles of bubbles in random places for kids to find.

Second, I left a basket of items in a restaurant restroom for any emergencies that may come up on the changing table.

It included powder, wipes, pacifiers, stuffed animals, baby lotion, etc.

Third, at Starbucks, I needed a gift card for my final RAOK of the day, and Melissa bought some coffee to donate to the troops.

Fourth and final RAOK today...

I had a red bucket of candy (Cinnamon bears, Hot Tamales, Cinnamon gum, Red Hots, Etc) and a $25 gift card to Starbucks with a note thanking firefighters for what they do.  We went to one firehouse that I think was abandoned.  Then, the went to the Trabuco Canyon Fire Station.  I prefer to do these when the firefighters are outside, so I dont have to ring the bell and disturb them.  This is a HUGE fire house, and there were guys outside, so I get out of the car and walk over.  There were about 40 firefighters outside, and I seriously thought I was going to throw up, I got so nervous.  HA HA! I handed one guy the bucket, and said I just wanted to say thank you for what you do, started rambling, then walked away!  HA!  I cant believe there were SO many people there.  

(So bummed I never got a picture of the actual contents of the bucket.  BOO!  I thought I had one.  Oh well.)

Spent the day on the Queen Mary today, and had lunch at the Promenade Cafe.  I left some swedish fish for the waiter,with a note that says:  "I O-FISH-ALLY hope you have a great day"

I left a little treat for my dentists office:

Sugar.  At the dentists office.  BUT... they bake home made cookies there every morning for the patients, so....  ;)

Decided on my walk to my car this morning to leave this on a new neighbors doorstep downstairs:

Another day slipped right past me where I panicked in the evening realizing I didnt do a RAOK!

I made a donation to The American Red Cross - San Diego for the fire victims.

I also helped a woman get her suitcase off the baggage claim belt when I was at the airport picking up my parents... She was having trouble and she was older, so I helped her out.

Today I sent a card with stickers to two of my favorite littles ever.

I miss them SO much.

I dropped off some coloring books and crayons at Memorial Care Urgent Care.

The guy at the desk, just stared at me... and asked me three times what it was for.  I said, "It is just for you to use here in your waiting room, for something for kids to do."  He blank stared at me, so I finally just left.  Hopefully someone else there gets what it was meant for.

Today, I did a few RAOKs.

I took a small walk through my complex this morning, and I said Good Morning and smiled at 5 of my neighbors.

I drove my parents cleaning lady home after she cleaned my house.  There is a store near where she lives that I wanted to go to, so I offered.  Otherwise she would have had to take three buses home.

I went to Target and left these "Treat Yourself" signs with a dollar on three dollar items in the dollar section.

Today I dropped off some toys and a big bag of towels to the animal shelter in Irvine.  Thats the shelter I got Kahlua from.  :)

Today, I had planned to do something, and it didn't work out with my schedule...

So Plan B, I decided I would do "I hope you have an EXTRA great day" with Extra gum.  Went to dinner, there was a guy sitting in his car watching me, couldnt do it.  Went shopping, decided I would see if giving it to the cashier worked if I bought something... otherwise I would leave it on a car outside.  I went back on forth on the cashier, and decided at the very last second to give it to her.  Her face lit up, she thanked me, and she smiled a smile I never would have guessed she had in her.  AWESOME.

Why do I let RAOKs stress me out, ha ha!  They make me so nervous!
